This year’s CFMHN conference was held in beautiful Kelowna, B. C. and I would like to thank the MHNIG for supporting my attendance at this wonderful event and to share some of the conference highlights with you. The theme of the conference for 2013 was “Mental Health Nursing…A Journey of Collaboration, Culture & Change” and the event truly lived up to it’s title!
 

Pregnancy and Substance-Involved Clients Session

Pregnancy and Substance-Involved Clients is one of four sessions in a webinar series offered by RNAO, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health’s Opioid Awareness Treatment and Education program, and the International Nurses Society on Addictions. The webinar will take place on Dec. 11, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to noon.

Annual General Meeting

Membership Survey 2013

Dear Member,

In November 2012, the Mental Health Nursing Interest Group (MHNIG) Executive convened to develop a Strategic Plan for 2013-2015. At this time, the Executive would like to invite MHNIG Membership to participate in a feedback process in a form of a survey. Your feedback is essential and will inform the top priorities for the MHNIG as well as future initiatives led by its members.

MHNIG Strategic Planning - Goals for 2012-2015

1) To increase participation and engagement of membership and students in MHNIG existing and future opportunities 2) To promote mental health education 3) To strengthen articulation of mental health nursing identity 4) To build and strengthen relationships (mentorship; specialty groups; politics; academia; RPNAO and students; students from all disciplines; community; peer support; clients and families)
